I am constantly correcting a friend of mine on his pronunciation of words because of this. It’s usually easy enough to figure out how a word is correctly pronounced through a google search, either from a video or a site specifically designed to tell you how to pronounce words. I refuse to ever pronounce a word incorrectly if I can help it; I find it embarrassing. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to use words you’ve only read and not heard; I’m saying in today’s day and age, there is no excuse for not knowing how to pronounce a word, because you can easily find out if you want. Knowing is half the battle.
